Die, spam bots!

Sigh. I've dealt with the occasional comment spam every once in a while since I started posting here. But I just got hit again, and I'm sick of going through old posts and deleting them. So I've decided to turn on word verification. Sorry for any annoyance/inconvenience, but this will keep me from going crazy. Hopefully!

ha! Is there one on your owenmeany post? It's in Arabic, I think. Oh well. Can it really be effective? all this spamming effort? I don't get it or do they just want to be annoying?
You could switch to Wordpress and let it catch all your spam - it's one of my favorite things about WP. :)
good luck to you, and I don't mind the wordver, usually... and then there's the having to sign in with my google id.

Curses upon the spam bots!

How annoying. I got hit recently, too, and discovered a way to change my blogger settings so that I have to approve comments on posts older than 2 weeks (I think that's adjustable). Mildly annoying, but better than word ver., in my book.

Yes, the spam bots, BAAAH!! I don't have problems with them on my new site, but on my old blog they are constantly commenting in Chinese! Silly spam bots, I don't speak Chinese :)

Spam bots are sooooo annoying. Don't mind the verifier (is that a word?)

Oh those spambots are so annoying. I had to do the same thing because some spambots were targeting a few posts of mine and I was sick of fixing it. What's the point?

Someone must be clicking on them, or they wouldn't keep wasting their time, right? Silly n00bs. :)

Care - I do have a WP account as well (handy for leaving comments on WP blogs), but I really don't want to change over just yet.

Ali - I did change my settings so I have to moderate comments older than 2 weeks, but the bots just hit my newer posts. Grr.
